Cases We Handle in Washington State

Here are just a few of the laws we help to uphold through litigation:
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Enacted in 1973, this was the United States’ first civil rights law for people with disabilities. It protects individuals with disabilities from discrimination in programs that receive financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Education. These programs include public schools, universities, and other education agencies.
- Americans with Disabilities Act. Working in conjunction with Section 504, the ADA protects both children and adults from exclusion and unequal treatment based on their disabilities. These protections extend from schools into the workplace, community, and all other areas of public life.
- Fair Housing Act. The FHA protects individuals from discrimination (based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability) when they are renting or buying a home, applying for a mortgage or housing assistance, and more. They have additional protections for federally-assisted housing.
