Civil Rights & Discrimination Litigation Attorneys in Seattle
The Civil Rights Act and other federal laws guarantee equal rights and access to public opportunities and services, no matter your race, sex, religion, and many other protected classes. States also have their own set of laws and additional protected classes.
Unfortunately, employers, lenders, businesses, and government agencies are fully capable of infringing upon these rights. To protect yourself against this infringement, you will need the support of an experienced team of attorneys. At Henry & DeGraaff, we take on all sizes of businesses and organizations because we are dedicated to preserving the rights of our clients in Seattle and throughout the state of Washington.

Cases We Handle in Washington State
As attorneys, part of our job is to inform our clients about their rights. Knowledge is power, and the better you understand the state and federal laws that protect you, the better equipped you will be to hold others accountable for their abuse.
Here are just a few of the laws we help to uphold through litigation:
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Enacted in 1973, this was the United States’ first civil rights law for people with disabilities. It protects individuals with disabilities from discrimination in programs that receive financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Education. These programs include public schools, universities, and other education agencies.
- Americans with Disabilities Act. Working in conjunction with Section 504, the ADA protects both children and adults from exclusion and unequal treatment based on their disabilities. These protections extend from schools into the workplace, community, and all other areas of public life.
- Fair Housing Act. The FHA protects individuals from discrimination (based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability) when they are renting or buying a home, applying for a mortgage or housing assistance, and more. They have additional protections for federally-assisted housing.
